Christmas Tree Safety

When I was a freshman in college, I had a couple of girlfriends stay with me right before the Christmas holiday. We tried to share a bed but they were keeping me awake, so I snuck downstairs in my parents house and went back to bed on the living room floor right near the beautifully lit tree, decorated with decades of memories. I woke up to my mother’s gasps, and as my eyes opened…you got it. The tree was falling right on me.

Now luckily for me, I was just fine minus a bruised ego and a sad mom as I picked up some of her lifelong treasures that hadn’t survived the crash, but that is not the case for many. Injury is common when it comes to these beloved holiday decorations. Here are some additional tips to STAY SAFE this holiday season.

· First, secure your tree properly to the roof of your car or truck

· When you can, use a net to prevent lose branches from flying off and hurting someone else during transportation

· Always to use a tree stand that will screw into the wood of the tree

· Put up a freshly harvested tree (dry trees catch fire easier)

· Water frequently to avoid drying out

We here at The Vezzani Agency wish you and your family a happy, healthy, and SAFE holiday season. If you have any questions about what the right coverage is for you, we are thrilled to help.
